BREAKING: ‘Hoarders’ nightmare...

Police and child protective services removed a 2-year-old child and two adults who have apparently been living in squalor so bad it stunk from the street in front of their home at 104 Beth Drive.

There are reports of dead animals in the home, including what could be a decomposed cat, rats and what appeared to be cat feces.

A second child has also been taken into protective custody and is a student at Saffell Street Elementary School.

UPDATE: Parents arrested as ‘...

UPDATED FRIDAY, 6:45 P.M — Two people are now behind bars after police found them and their 2-year-old child living in a home filled with animal and human feces, and garbage reportedly piled several feet high throughout.

Michael W. Hutchens, 24, and Anna G. Mauer, 24, both of 104 Beth Drive, Lawrenceburg, were each charged with one count of second-degree wanton endangerment.

They are both currently lodged in the Shelby County Detention Center and are likely to be arraigned by video Monday morning in Anderson Circuit Court.

‘Hoarders’ nightmare discovered...

Used toilet paper piled several feet high around a toilet.
Several inches of what appeared to be animal feces in the kitchen sink and literally coating the kitchen counters.
Trash, including expired food items dating back to 2009, piled waste high in nearly every room of the house.
Live and dead animals, including what appeared to be a decomposing cat.
Those are just a sample of what police found last Friday morning when an officer made a safety check at 104 Beth Drive.

Library lawsuit moving forward,...

The lawsuit threatened two weeks ago against the Anderson Public Library has yet to be filed, but those suing say they still plan to do so.
“We’re in the developing stages and getting our briefs together,” said Harold Todd, one of those involved. “We still have some legwork to do, but we are still moving forward.”

State orders ‘immediate steps’...

The state’s Department for Environmental Protection issued assurances Tuesday morning that air, soil and water in and around Lawrenceburg is safe following Friday’s fire, according to spokesperson Dick Brown.
However, the agency is taking what Brown called “immediate steps” to put a corrective action plan in place with Dlubak Glass, owner of the large pile of vinyl that burned for nearly three hours.

Lawrenceburg Trinity Church of God changes service order
Lawrenceburg Trinity Church of God is changing the order of its services, according to a press release. Starting Sunday, May 12, Sunday morning worship will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Then starting on Wednesday, May 15, Sunday School classes will be held starting at 6:30 p.m.

Lawrenceburg man charged with...

A Lawrenceburg man is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Anderson District Court on 139 counts of possession of a legend drug and leaving the scene of an accident, according to court documents on file.
John T. Ivey, 21, of 1497 Aaron Barnett Road, was served April 12 with a grand jury summons on an incident that occurred last December when the car he was driving crashed into a home on Fox Creek Road, reportedly causing severe damage.
Ivey allegedly fled before being tracked down by Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Likens.

TOWERING INFERNO: Smoke seen for...

Life in Lawrenceburg screeched to a halt last Friday afternoon as residents looked skyward with a mixture of disbelief, awe and fear.
Above them was an enormous cloud of black smoke, towering over their streets and homes, intermittently blocking out the sun and prompting people from as far away as Georgetown and Nicholasville to say, nearly in unison, “What in the heck is burning?”
The short answer was a gigantic pile of a vinyl material used to bind automotive glass and prevent it from shattering.

Birth: Cunningham

Shawna Rebecca Cunningham and James David Cunningham of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their son, Carson Lee Cunningham, born April 29, 2013.
He weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 21.25 inches long.
Big brother Bentley Cunningham welcomed Carson home.
Maternal grandparents are Mike and Becky Copper of Lawrenceburg. Maternal great-grandmother is Edith Paterson of Lawrenceburg.
Paternal grandparents are Warren and Nancy Cunningham of Lawrenceburg.
