  • That’s one big buck

    Doug Sallee might be able to sing a few notes higher the next time he hits the stage.

    The local gospel music tenor harvested the deer of a lifetime when he took a 22-point monster last Thursday in Anderson County. The deer scored 160 2/8.

    Sallee says he had never even seen a deer of that size before shooting him with a Thompson Center Encode 300 win mag. His biggest prize before Thursday had been a 10-pointer.

    Ever since they left Banker’s Life Fieldhouse for the last time as teammates, then withthe Kentucky All-Stars, Eriel McKee and Makenzie Cann knew the next time they saw each other on the basketball court, it would be as opponents.

    The Anderson County High School grads are friends always, of course.

    Now that the high school football season is over, community eyes are now turning to the Anderson Bearcats’ basketball program. Boys’ head coach Glen Drury, and girls’ head coach Clay Birdwhistell are looking forward to seemingly promising seasons.
