Colt Litkenhus, a seventh-grader at Anderson County Middle School, has been named National Wrangler Rodeo Association Athlete of the Month for January, 2009.
The award is based on a written essay, references, academics and extra-curricular activities. Litkenhus was selected from a group of cowboys from the United States, Canada and Australia.
Litkenhus and 12 other award winners are now eligible for a $1,000 college scholarship, to be awarded at the national rodeo finals, scheduled for July, 2009, and to be held in Gallup, N.M.
