  • Bearcat golfers fall short

    The Anderson County boys’ golf team fell short in its quest for a berth in this week’s state tournament. The Bearcats shot a collective 333 in last Tuesday’s Region 4 Tournament, held at Danville Country Club.
    Lee Robinson shot a 78, to lead the Bearcats, but missing an individual state berth by two strokes. He was the only Anderson golfer with a score under 80. Tyler Harrod fired an 82 while Darrin Laswell shot an 86 and Jackson Taylor came home with an 87.

  • Girls’ soccer team clinches...

    The Anderson County girls’ soccer team clinched the No. 3 seed in the Distrcit 25 Tournament with a 4-0 win over Western Hills last Thursday.
    The match had originally been scheduled for the field Anderson County High School but was rescheduled twice after rains from the previous weekend had rendered the Lady Bearcats’ home pitch unplayable. It was eventually played at Anderson Middle School.

    Franklin County forced a three-way tie at the top of the boys’ 25th District soccer race when the Flyers outlasted Anderson County, 2-1, in a shootout last Tuesday.
    Two nights later, the Bearcats avoided a three-way deadlock for spots 4-6 with their own 2-1 shootout win over Owen County.

  • Lions sponsor 5K Run/Walk for...

    The Lawrenceburg Lion’s Club hosted a “5K Run/Walk for Sight” on Oct. 1 during the Burgoo Festival to raise money to buy eyeglasses for the underprivileged people in Anderson County.   


    The 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) course began at the Lion’s Club Pavilion in Anderson County Community Park and proceeded down the road out of the park, past Anderson County Middle School.

  • Lions Club crowns ‘The Fastest...

    The “Fastest Kid in Anderson County” race was run down the middle of Main Street in Lawrenceburg during the Burgoo Festival on Saturday, according to a news release.


    The Lawrenceburg Lions Club hosted the event and awarded trophies were awarded to the fastest two runners in each age group. The club also awarded medals to all participants.


    Winners in the 5-and-under division were Nathan Hardin, first, and Skyla Taulbee, second.

  • 57 compete in disc golf tourney

    The Lawrenceburg Disc Golf Association hosted the second annual Autumn Classic Disc Golf Tournament on Sept. 24. A field of 57 players participated in the 36-hole event played at both the Anderson County Community Park Disc Golf Course and the Lawrenceburg City Park Disc Golf Course.  


    Players competed in a morning session of 18 holes before lunch and then 18 holes in the afternoon.  Two divisions, advanced and advanced masters, had to have sudden-death playoff holes in order to resolve first place ties.

    The Anderson County High School girls’ soccer team routed Western Hills 4-0 to earn the No. 3 seed in the upcoming District 25 tournament. The game was played at Anderson County Middle School after two postponements due to unplayable field conditions.

    The Anderson County-Western Hills girls' soccer match, which was orginally scheduled for Monday night, is now on for Thursday night at Anderson County Middle School.

    NICHOLASVILLE – Caitlyn Riley’s hands weren’t shaking as she got ready to putt from just 5 feet out last Tuesday.


    Her knees had not been knocking as she knelt to survey the situation on the green during the first hole of a sudden death playoff at Connemara.


    But looks were deceiving.
