Courtney Turpin knew it was gone as soon as the bat connected with the ball.
Hannah Searcy, on the other hand, kept a crowd of softball fans holding their breath until her first varsity home run carried just past the right field fence.
But the two long balls summed up Anderson County's 9-2 win over visiting Shelby County Monday night. The Lady Bearcats hit the ball hard, and hit it throughout the lineup.
“We were aggressive at the plate tonight,” said Anderson coach Brian Glass. “We were getting the bat head out in front of the ball.”
