  • FOOTBALL: Bearcats roll past...

Anderson County simply prepared for a football game.

No question that it was a special one, being the last homecoming night for a senior class that has spent most of its high school career ranked in Kentucky's Top 10 teams in Class 5A. But no one could have seen the onslaught that was coming.

  • BLOG POST: Steve Jobs changed...

I will have to admit I didn't know who Steve Jobs was until several years ago. By that time, Jobs had already made much of his mark as one of the founders of Apple Computers and they were common place. When one of the founders of Apple computers died Wednesday, it seems everyone knew who he was.

Everyone knows that when those in charge of picking a homecoming date look at a team's football schedule, they look for what is perceived to be a game the home team should win.

  • COLUMN: Sad surface state forces...

I hope The Weather Channel is right.

When I checked the long-range forecast Monday, it assured me there was no rain in sight at least through the middle of next week.

With that in mind, I am sure that Anderson County soccer fans are banking on Al Roker being 100 percent right when he says there is only about a 10 percent chance of rain.

The tournament is considered to be a wide-open affair with no clear cut favorite.
Collins, the defending champion, is the No. 1 seed, but the Titans lost their first district match since the school was formed last year when No. 2 seed Shelby County upset Collins recently.
Anderson County, the No. 4 seed, has beaten both Shelby and No. 3 Henry County during the season.
In fact, Anderson has beaten Henry twice.

  • Bearcat golfers fall short

The Anderson County boys’ golf team fell short in its quest for a berth in this week’s state tournament. The Bearcats shot a collective 333 in last Tuesday’s Region 4 Tournament, held at Danville Country Club.
Lee Robinson shot a 78, to lead the Bearcats, but missing an individual state berth by two strokes. He was the only Anderson golfer with a score under 80. Tyler Harrod fired an 82 while Darrin Laswell shot an 86 and Jackson Taylor came home with an 87.
