Special education teacher has been with school since 2006

Jason Alexander has been selected as the new principal at Robert B. Turner Elementary School.

Alexander, a special education teacher at the school since 2006, was unanimously selected Saturday by the school’s site-based decision making council, according to Superintendent Sheila Mitchell.

He succeeds the late Wayne Reese, who passed away last December.

“I am confident he will continue the RBT legacy of excellence,” said Mitchell. “I think Mr. Reese would be proud knowing his students and staff are in the hands of a servant leader who loves Robert B. Turner as much as he did.”

Alexander is tentatively scheduled to begin serving as principal July 1.

The school’s site-based council and staff will welcome Alexander during Friday’s Titan Fest from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Cake and punch will be served.
