From staff reports

Singing sensation Mikaya Taylor kept up her busy schedule when she performed Oct. 18 in Harrodsburg during an “On Your Front Porch” event.

Taylor, a sixth grader at Robert B. Turner Elementary School, is fresh off the release of her first CD: “Mikaya Taylor: Small Town, Big Heart,” a collaboration between Mikaya, her mother, Traci Taylor, Old Town Recording Studios of Berea and Blind Dog Studios of Crestwood.

Local musician Kevin Chilton plays banjo on the CD.

She performed during the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club’s installation banquet, along with Michael Johnathon of WoodSongs.

Kiwanis hosted the event, which was sponsored by Central Kentucky Ag Credit, which produces the “On Your Front Porch” programs, according to a news release.
