This offseason, Lady Bearcat senior Lauren Boblitt will play in her first career All-Star game as she’s been named to the Kentucky High School Girls Basketball All-Star team.

Boblitt and her Kentucky teammates will play Ohio’s All-Star team on April 13 at Thomas More College in northern Kentucky. Boblitt mailed in her application less than a week ago, and is now set to participate in the game next month.

“I think it’s great for our school, it’s great for our community to have kids that represent our school throughout the state,” Lady Bearcat head coach Clay Birdwhistell said. “We’re really excited for her.”

Past Lady Bearcats Makenzie Cann and Eriel McKee previously played on the team along with many more recognizable names in Kentucky high school girls basketball. Boblitt is excited to play in the game and add her name to the list of Anderson County players to have participated in the game.

“I’ve watched a lot of players be a part of this team and I really wanted to,” Boblitt said.

The game will take place a month after the Sweet 16 State Tournament, which will be hosted in Rupp Arena for the first time this year. Boblitt and the Lady Bearcats’ goal is to make that tournament for the first time since 2014, when the tournament was hosted at E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

While Boblitt is looking forward to the opportunity to play in the game, she first wants to accomplish her postseason goals before thinking about the All-Star game.

“I don’t really like paying attention to that kind of stuff, I just kind of do my own thing,” Boblitt said. “I got on an all-star team, and that’s cool, but I still have teams goals and stuff.”

The game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. at Thomas More College. The boys All-Star game will follow afterward, and it’s $12 for admission into both games.
