Friday, March 15, 2019 

7 p.m.:  Performance of “Once on This Island,” the new spring musical at ACHS inside the Bearcat Theatre. 

Sometimes described as a spin-off of The Little Mermaid, and based on the 1985 novel “My, Love, My Love; or The Peasant Girl” by Rosa Guy, the play is a story of romance across social castes.

Shows continue that weekend on Saturday and Sunday and continue through the 22-24 at ACHS. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door at $8 for adults and $5 for students. 

Friday, March 22

5 p.m.: Saint Lawrence Catholic hosts its first Lenten fish fry at the church, located on 120 North Gatewood Street in Lawrenceburg. 

The event is open to the public, who may eat via the drive-thru, or by dining inside the church. 

Drive-thru meals are a flat $12. Prices vary by age for inside diners.

Friday, March 22

6:30-8:30 p.m.: Line Mandala Sip and Paint at the Art Alley Frame & Clinic, located  at 100 West Court Street in Lawrenceburg. 

Draw your own “groovy, trendy, and fun” mandalas with the help of instructor Shannon Clinton. Clinton will lead particpants into creating their own 11x14” canvas panel.

Cost is $45  and includes all materials, wine and refreshments. To RSVP, call 502-353-4238.

Saturday, March 23

9 a.m.-2 p.m.: The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce will host the 12th annual Business and Community Expo at the middle school. It includes live entertainment, exhibits, and local business booths. 

The 12th Annual Chili Luncheon is also embedded within the event. Chili, hotdogs, and desert will be sold for $5 per person. Admission is free.

Thursday, March 28

6-7 p.m.: A special presentation of Adolph Rupp: The Coach begins at Anderson Public Library. 

Edward Smith portrays the celebrated University of Kentucky Basketball coach whose career spanned 880 wins, four national championships, and one Olympic gold medal.

Smith will take the audiences through each chapter of Rupp’s life, from his basketball years as a young man through his retirement. This is a free event. No registration required.

Saturday, March 30

1 p.m.: “Garden Fever” event at the Anderson County Extension Office, located at 1026 County Park Road. Gardening tips for container, handicap, and herb gardening.
