Despite difficulties, high schools should do all possible to avoid district tourney conflicts

Until his health deteriorated in recent years, there was never a question of whether Jim Boyd would be somewhere on the sidelines when the Anderson County Bearcats took the football field.

The only uncertainty, for me at least, was if I was going to get a chance to speak to the local fixture.

The last few years usually saw Mr. Boyd standing at the fence, near the steps on the west end of Hollie Warford Stadium. He often had a program rolled in his hands as he watched the action. If I was in the vicinity, he always waved.
