Man injured in trailer park shooting

Victim in serious but stable condition

A 20-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg this morning inside a residence off Versailles Road.

The victim’s name has not been released. He is reportedly in serious but stable condition.

The shooting, which occurred around 9 a.m. inside a residence at Lot 41 in the back portion of the trailer park, appears to have been accidental.

Bart Powell, the county’s director of emergency management, said the unidentified male was showing friends a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun and was putting the gun away when it discharged, hitting him in the upper left portion of his leg.

The victim was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center’s trauma unit by Anderson County EMS.

The Lawrenceburg Police Department is investigating the incident. The Kentucky State Police was also at the scene.
