Sparks fly as election board moves Hickory Grove precinct

Ashburn erupts, calls out fire chief, county clerk

 A heated meeting of the Anderson County of Elections last Friday ended with the decision to move the Hickory Grove voting precinct to Turner Elementary School.

Board member Steve Ashburn, who is appointed by the local Democrat committee, blasted the idea, saying a majority of the 1,000 people who live in that precinct made it clear in a recent informal survey that they want to keep at the fire station at the corner of U.S. 62 and Beaver Lake Road.
