The Anderson County spring sports season is scheduled to get under way in a big way Monday, March 24, as three Bearcat teams have season-opening events that day.

The Lady Bearcat softball team, ranked 15th in the state in the pre-season poll, will get tested early as the Lady Bearcats travel to Louisville Mercy Academy, the defending Region 7 champion. Tuesday, the Lady Bearcats return to Louisville to take on Butler, the defending Region 6 titlist. Both games begin at 6 p.m.

The Bearcat baseball team, considered by many to be one of the better teams in the Eighth Region, will entertain Boyle County at 6 p.m. Monday in the season opener. The Bearcats will travel to Bryan Station the following day for a matchup with the Defenders at 5:45 p.m.

The Anderson boys' tennis team will also hit the road Monday, going to Frankfort. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
