Broken water main near Stringtown to blame

Update: Crews fixed the broken water main under pressure and water will be restored by 5 p.m, according to City Clerk Robbie Hume.

The boil water advisory will remain for the next 18-24 hours, said Hume.

Orginal story: A break to a 12-inch water main near Stringtown has forced city officials to shut off water to all of Lawrenceburg.

The water is expected to be off until around 6 p.m., according to City Clerk Robbie Hume, who said it could be sooner depending on time needed to make repairs.

He said as soon as water is restored, all city water customers will be placed under a boil water advisory for the next 24 hours.

Crews are working at the location, where around 4 p.m. water could be seen shooting nearly 100 feet in the air from the broken main, Hume said.
