Jury buys testimony that mom was driving

The ninth time was the charm for a Versailles woman who was found not guilty of DUI following eight previous convictions dating back to 2001.

It was her ninth overall DUI and fourth in the past five years.

Christy Stevens, 36, took the stand last Thursday in Anderson County Circuit Court and claimed it was her mother, not her, who was driving a car that broke down last June near the Wild Turkey Distillery.

Her testimony came just after her mother, Luanne Stevens, who was with her daughter that night, claimed it was her daughter driving the car.
