Garmon succumbs to injuries five days after wreck on Versailles Road

The Lawrenceburg woman whose mini-van was struck head-on last Friday by a dump truck has died, The Anderson News has confirmed.

Marie Garmon, 43, sustained massive injuries in the wreck that occurred when the truck struck her van and drove it into a rock wall near Starhill Way. She died Wednesday night.

The dump truck was headed toward Versailles when it locked up its brakes to avoid hitting a car that had stopped in front of it. The truck then veered into the opposite lane, slamming into Garmon’s mini-van.

The 1997 International dump truck was driven by Eric D. Jenkins of Hustonville, according to the Kentucky State Police, which is investigating the accident.
Anderson County EMS Director Bart Powell said Jenkins was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. at First Christian Church. Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 14 from 2-8 p.m. and after 11 a.m. on Saturday at First Christian Church.
