    Fellowship Baptist Church hosts Wildness Escape-themed bible school

    Fellowship Baptist Church will host vacation bible school June 16-June 20 from 6-8 p.m.

    This year’s theme is “Wilderness Escape where God guides and provides.”

    There will be crafts, snacks, music and a chance for kids to make new friends.

  • Stockton named all-region catcher

    Anderson County High School baseball player Brice Stockton has been named to the All-Eighth Region team, as selected by the region's coaches. Stockton, a junior, was selected based on regular season play.

    Others selected to the team were catcher Kipp Moore of Shelby County, infielders Drew Greenwood of South Oldham, Zac Wiley of Collins, Andrew Pennybake of North Oldham and Jared Ball of Owen County.

  • Anderson duo takes on Indiana in All-Star series

    Makenzie Cann and Eriel McKee have two more high school basketball games.

    The top two scorers in Anderson County High School history are members of the Kentucky All-Star team that will take on the Indiana All-Stars in the annual summer series this weekend.

    The series is set to resume Friday at the Beck Center on the campus of Transylvania University in Lexington. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

  • Anderson resident selected to KHSAA Hall of Fame

    Anderson County resident Freddie Maggard has been selected for induction into the Dawahare's/KHSAA Hall of Fame. Maggard is one of 10 members of the Class of 2015 and will be inducted into the hall on March 21, 2015 in ceremonies at the Lexington Civic Center.

  • Smallmouth fishing getting stronger as water temps rise

    The stream smallmouth fishing season is in full bloom.

    A late spring following a brutally cold winter caused some hit and miss stream smallmouth fishing this past spring. With the warm winds of June now here, stream smallmouth are settling into their summer patterns with water temperatures stabilizing in the mid-70s.

  • State tournament notes: Lady Cats could be state title contender

    While Anderson County expected to advance a bit farther than it did in the state tournament, the Lady Bearcats learned some very important lessons for a 2015 campaign that should see Anderson play the role of heavy favorite in the Eighth Region and, perhaps, a contender for the state championship.

    Anderson loses just two seniors, and only one of them, center fielder Molly Burkhead, saw significant playing time this year.

    The other senior, Madison Brummett, was hampered by injuries most of the year.
