    Bryan and Mary Beth Shouse of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Katelyn Elizabeth Shouse, to Aaron Morgan Graves, son of Larry and Bobbi Graves of Lawrenceburg.

    The bride-to-be is a 2009 Anderson County High School graduate and a 2013 Transylvania University graduate. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with the University of Kentucky.

    Heather and Randy Adams of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Audrey Lynn Adams, on Nov. 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

    She weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Her maternal grandparents are Bobby and Betty Montgomery of Lawrenceburg.

    Her maternal great-grandparents are Deverl Burns and the late Clyde Burns and Robert Montgomery and the late Virginia Perkins.

    Her paternal grandparents are Adams and the late Ronald Adams of Loretto, Ky.

  • Rylee Cole Smith

    Ashley and Jackie Smith of Lawrenceburg announce the birth of their daughter, Rylee Cole Smith, on April 21, 2014 at 8:26 a.m. at Frankfort (Ky.) Regional Medical Center.

    She weighed 7 pounds, 15.5 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    She is welcomed home by her brothers Austin, 14, Jackson, 8 and sister Carlee, 3.

    Her maternal grandparents are Bill and Pam Cole of Lawrenceburg.

    Her maternal great-grandparents are Warren and Shirley Ivey of Lexington, Rollin and Jeanette Cole of Lawrenceburg, and the late Jimmy Wright.

  • Mitchell 50th

    The family of John and Berneice Mitchell will host a reception to celebrate John and Berneice’s 50th wedding anniversary.

    The anniversary will take place at Antioch Christian Church in Willisburg, Ky. from 5 p.m.– 8 p.m. Sat., May 17.

    They were married May 16, 1964 in Clintwood, Va.

    Berneice is a retired teacher.

    John is a retired bus driver and IBM employee.

    Berneice’s parents are the late Robert Drury and Faye Drury of Willisburg.

  • CASA swears in eight new volunteers and offers training

    Eight new CASA volunteers were sworn in to serve as advocates for abused and neglected children involved in family court. These volunteers will focus their advocacy for children in both Anderson and Franklin Counties.

    Leslie Cummins, Barbara Dalzell, Kate Heyden, Roger Hogan, Jeff Lee, Teresa Mullins, Tom Stigall and Christina Willis pledged before the court to be a voice for these children and to pursue the best outcome for each child.

  • To put it simply, Christians are expected to care for orphans

    May is National Foster Care Awareness month.

    According to the most recent statistics from the National Foster Care Coalition, nearly 400,000 children are currently in foster care, with almost 7,000 of those in Kentucky.

    Out of this number, many will eventually be reunified with their family members once it is seemed safe to do so (51 percent in 2012), while others will wait and age out of the system, having never had the blessing of being the member of a loving family.
