  • Kentucky’s overall jobless rate has risen slightly

    Kentucky’s seasonally adjusted preliminary unemployment rate has risen slightly to 7.9 percent from 7.8 percent, according to the Office of Employment and Training.

    The preliminary jobless rate was 0.4 percentage points below the 8.3 percent rate recorded for the state this time last year.

    The U.S. seasonally adjusted jobless rate remained unchanged at 6.7 percent compared to a month ago, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

    Judge Donna Dutton heard the following cases during Anderson District Court proceedings April 21, 2014.

    Dusty L. Dizney, arraignment, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, operating on suspended/revoked operator’s license – pleaded guilty, $1243, installment/deferred payment Oct. 20.

    Brittany Fields, hearing, fraudulent use of credit card (less than $500 in six month period) – 12 months to serve.

    Justin Hume, arraignment, flagrant non support – pleaded not guilty, preliminary hearing May 1.

    Robert Medley for assault 4th domestic violence by the Kentucky State Police.

    April 26

    Jonny Wardle for probation violation by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

    Joyce Bailey for a Fayette County warrant by the Lawrenceburg Police Department.

    Nominated for award

    Paula Monroe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kisle Monroe, was nominated for the annual Achievement Awards Program, sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English.

    FFA awards

    The annual FFA banquet of the Anderson High Chapter was held with 129 members in attendance.

    An Honorary Chapter Farmer degree was presented to Henry Frazier, principal at Anderson High School.

    Bryan and Mary Beth Shouse of Lawrenceburg announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Katelyn Elizabeth Shouse, to Aaron Morgan Graves, son of Larry and Bobbi Graves of Lawrenceburg.

    The bride-to-be is a 2009 Anderson County High School graduate and a 2013 Transylvania University graduate. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Pharmacy degree with the University of Kentucky.

  • 8th Annual Veterans Reunion is May 16-17

    The 8th Annual All Veterans Reunion is May 16-17 at the American Legion Post 34 located at 725 W. Broadway, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342.

    The event is open to the public.

    Gates open at noon Friday. Friday activities include a candlelight service at 8:30 p.m.

    Saturday activities include an opening ceremony at 10 a.m.
