  • Anderson welcomes new opponent...

    The Anderson County football team is coming off back to back losses for the first time since 2017, and the next stop on the Bearcats’ regular season path doesn’t get any easier.

    For the first time in program history, the Bearcats will face the Henderson County Colonels, who are 4-0 this season. It’s the first time since 2005 that the Colonels started the season perfect through four games, and they’re one of four 6A teams remaining that’s undefeated.

  • New RPI rankings released

    The KHSAA’s new RPI ratings will have a heavy influence in the later rounds of the football state playoffs, and the first set of rankings has been released.

    As of Tuesday morning, the Anderson County football team was ranked No. 15 in 4A with an RPI of 0.513. The ranking is the third best in Anderson’s district, with Bourbon County being the lowest ranked team in the district with an RPI of 0.465, which is No. 22 in 4A.

  • Lady Bearcats beat Woodford in...

    The Anderson County girls’ golf team secured its eighth match win of the season against Woodford County on Monday night by a score of 177-213.

    The match was the Lady Bearcats’ final home appearance of the season, who have won their last six matches against various schools. Anderson will play in one more match on the road this season before closing out the season in tournaments.

  • Lady Bearcats suffer biggest...

    DANVILLE – The Anderson County girls’ soccer team suffered its biggest loss of the season on Monday night to Paul Laurence Dunbar by a score of 7-1.

    It was only the second time this season that the Lady Bearcats failed to score at least two goals in a game, and it was also the second most goals given up in a game this season.

    However, PLD made the state playoffs last season, and are off to a good start this season with a 7-3-2 record after Monday’s win. Anderson drops to 8-4-1 with the loss after winning its previous six straight.

  • Lady Bearcats struggle against...

    The Anderson County volleyball team lost its third game in a row on Monday night with a 0-2 (18-25, 17-25) defeat to Bardstown.

    It was the fourth time this season that the Lady Bearcats were swept, all of which have come in the last six games.

    “I think we got out-hustled tonight,” Lady Bearcat head coach Ryan Brown said after the game. “After a weekend, showing up to play on a Monday, we struggled to find the effort and energy to get ourselves mentally into that game.”

  • Flyers fly past Bearcats

    FRANKFORT – The Anderson County football team was blown out on the road at Franklin County on Friday evening, losing to the Flyers 53-19.

    The 34-point defeat was Anderson’s largest since losing to Meade County 48-0 in 2017. The 53 points surrendered was also the most the Bearcats have given up since letting Cooper score 61 on Anderson back in the 2014 state playoffs.

  • Bearcats to face tough test at...

    For the first time since October 2017, the No. 10 ranked Anderson County football team lost a regular season game and will look to rebound in the next game.

    Anderson’s next opponent is one that’s familiar, but will be a tough challenge – No. 7 Franklin County.

    The Flyers are one of only seven undefeated teams left in the 4A class, and roster a number of players that are capable of making an impact on the game at any moment.

  • Bearcats looking for first...

    The Anderson County boys’ soccer team hasn’t won a game since its season opener on Aug. 13, but it’ll attempt to change that tomorrow when it hosts the defending 30th District champs Collins in a district showdown.

    The Bearcats are currently 1-7-1 (0-2) and are riding a three-game losing streak. Anderson has lost its first two district games of the season to Woodford County and Spencer County, and will have one district game left on its schedule against Shelby County after Thursday’s game.

  • Lady Bearcats win first district...

    SHELBYVILLE – The Anderson County volleyball team won its first 30th District game of the season on Monday night with a 3-1 (18-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-19) win over Shelby County.

    The victory also gives the Lady Bearcats 10 wins on the season with a 10-5 (1-2) record.

    Jina Sparrow led the Lady Bearcats in kills on the night with eight, followed by Anna Grace McGregor with five.

    McGregor also led Anderson in blocks with four.

    After the Lady Bearcats dropped the first set, they went on to win a competitive second set by a score of 26-24.

  • Anderson takes care of Spencer...

    The Anderson County girls’ soccer team further cemented its place atop the 30th District standings on Monday night with a 4-1 win over Spencer County.

    The win moves Anderson’s district record to 3-0 with one game remaining. It also guarantees Anderson a top two seed in next month’s district tournament with a good chance to secure the overall top seed.

    “A district win is always a good win,” Lady Bearcat head coach Jason Earnest said after the game.
