  • Smallmouth fishing getting...

    The stream smallmouth fishing season is in full bloom.

    A late spring following a brutally cold winter caused some hit and miss stream smallmouth fishing this past spring. With the warm winds of June now here, stream smallmouth are settling into their summer patterns with water temperatures stabilizing in the mid-70s.

    Keith Lilly displays the gobbler he took during a trip to West Virginia. The bird sported a 9 1/2-inch beard and sharp 1 3/8-inch spurs.


    Anderson County's dream of earning a place among the state's best ended abruptly Friday afternoon when Green County upset the Lady Bearcats, 8-5, in the Worth/KHSAA State Softball Tournament in Owensboro.

    Errors and impatience did the Lady Bearcats in. The Lady Bearcats were officially charged with four errors, three in the decisive fifth inning when Green County scored six runs to send Anderson to its second loss in the double-elimination tournament.

  • High school volleyball team...

    The Anderson County High School volleyball team is hosting a team camp on Saturday, June 7 from 8 a.m. until noon. The camp will be held in the high school gym.

    Cost of the camp is $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door. Campers are asked to wear volleyball attire, athletic shoes and, if possible, knee pads.

    Campers are also asked to bring a water bottle and a snack.

  • Bearcat basketball camp is June...

    The annual Anderson County Bearcat Basketball Camp will be held June 9-14 at various locations in the county.

    Campers in grades 1-3 will report to Turner Elementary School. Those in grades 4-5 should report to Saffell Street School while those in grades 6-8 will participate at Anderson County High School. Camp times are 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day.
