Do Fiscal Court ‘beliefs’ include courage?

On June 1, the Anderson County library received so many hateful, threatening phone calls they became concerned for the safety of staff and citizens/patrons. They called law enforcement. The director felt threatened enough that she started carrying a gun.

At the August 15 meeting, the director made a public statement in Fiscal Court that included this stunning sentence: “Staff were cursed at and I received threats to my personal safety including a person who said if I didn’t resign and leave town he would ‘put me in the ground.’ ”

Our elected officials have spent excess energy touting their [Christian] “beliefs” with regard to the recently library board decision, and yet consider this singular fact: Fiscal Court has not once publicly expressed alarm or concern about any of the above.
