Robert B. Turner archers headed to nationals

LAWRENCEBURG — When the Eastern regional for the national archery competition is held on May 9 in Louisville, Anderson County will have another representative.

Robert B. Turner Elementary will be sending its team after placing 81st in the bullseye event at the state tournament, held recently in Louisville.

The team scored 2,614 which was good enough to advance.

Easton Bickers had the high team score of 259 on the day. The fifth-grader was 89th in the elementary division.

Joshua Chambers, another fifth grader, was right behind with a 258 to finish 101st out of 1,212 competitors.

Jackson Bowser, a fourth grader, had a score of 240. Fifth grader Malachi Dennemann was a mark of 229, while fourth grader Adalynn Whitaker had a score of 220. Fifth grader Addison Hagan had a score of 207.

Kevin Chen, a fifth-grader, scored a 202, with fourth grader Lane Pauley at 201.

Harley Hicks, a fourth-grader, had a score of 190, just ahead of teammate Maddalyn Fisher, also a fourth-grader, with a 189.

Tyler Hanson, a fourth-grader, had a score of 187, and Riley Wilson, also a fourth grader, finished at 173.

Cali Gootee and Emily Vanover, both fifth-graders, each had a score of 170.

Fourth grader Stephen Drury had a score of 169 and fourth grader Mavis Vanover finished with a 150.

Arial Lackey, a fifth-grader, finished at 145, with fourth-grader Evan Hawkins at 91.

The team is led by head coach Matt Pinkston and assistant coach Don Shuck.
